12volt air compressor on 24 volt truck

Garage talk. Anything from mounting a winch to water proofing the electrics.

12volt air compressor on 24 volt truck

got a 12 volt typhoon air compressor and have 24 volt truck can i just put clips on one of the batteries :?:
on my 3rd POS 70 cruiser still havent learnt

yes.
only reason it would harm the batteries is if you used it constantly, then the other battery ends up getting over charged.
if your worried about it clip it on one bat for a while then swap to the other, whilst your filling tires etc.. :)

Just make sure you connect to the 1st Battery (the one connected to earth). Cause as soon as the second battery gets involved you're running 24v.

it only matters if you are going to use the vehicle's chassis as an earth, and not striaght to the negative of the battery.
the terminals of 2nd battery are +24 and +12v respectively giving potential difference of 12v.
If you are going to hard wire it definately use first battery, otherwise if your just using it temporarily by putting crock clips on it doesnt matter. I do it all the time, usually to jump start other cars, just make sure the bumpers dont touch! (done that)
doesnt matter if running or not, it does eventually harm one of the batteries but only an issue if the load is on the permanently, not the few minutes it takes to use a compressor.
