whats inside a diesel cruiser fuel tank?

I have a 96 hzj70, Im converting it to an efi petrol engine, so i really need to know what is inside the tank 
Is there a little electric pump? are there baffles? what are all those mysterious hoses for!? (theres about 5 on mine!)
Im trying to source all the bits at the mo whilst its still running with the old engine, so i dont want to take the tank out untill I start on the conversion.
I plan on running an external bosch pump with a surge tank and lift pump feeding it.
I dont actually know how the current diesel pump primes itself at the mo, was just assuming it had a little electric pump, because it doesnt have a manual hand priming pump on it like my old 60 series, and ive run it dry before and just put more diesel in it and it worked.
