You looking at buying a Hilux now?

They're not bad, the economy sux - look to get 350-400 km from a 65l tank of petrol, but the LPG ones (like mine) are much better - you get around the same distance on a tank, but the tank is 1/2 the price to fill...

The springs will probably need renewing unless they've been done - and longer shocks will help offroad. Look at what you want to do with it before spending money on things like suspension tho - there are heaps of mods you can do that will make it very capable.

Hell; buy my Lux, most of the mods are done... I can't drive the MU and the Lux at the same time...

I decided that I would rather initally invest a smaller ammount and also Im likely to break stuff and dent pannels.
It depends what you want for your lux?
I may have to talk to you about adding tow hooks.

You won't need towhooks - it never ever gets stuck... very often :P

Handy for pulling out stuck Datsuns tho, so you do need em I suppose  It has one fitted to the front and a towing eye on the other side - can easily bolt them on the rear - $25 each (rated 10,000lb's from memory)

I'll flick you a PM. Best you come down to the shed and have a look and decide what you want. Its pretty stripped down at the moment so I'll rebuild it to what you want/want to spend if you are keen - but the following mods have been done:

    rear springs up front
    modified high-angle steering
    longer torque rod
    Rancho 5000's all round
    50mm body lift
    31" all-terrains (31" muddy ATX 23's a possibility - talk to Conan)
    Lengthened front driveshaft
    low-profile gearbox crossmember
    5-speed box
    power steering
    tube bed on the rear
comfy corolla seats and surf centre-console
Standard Hilux rear springs, but all mounts in place for falcons - just bolt 'em in
remounted rear shocks and u-bolt flip ready

The reg and WOF are out, and its not cert'd for the mods in front but could easily all be put back to standard to get a plain vanilla WOF or cert'd for the mods that are done. Heaps of options. It will take at least 36" Simexes with no rubbing - so tyre options are wide open

Give me a shout on 021 637 600. Down there this arvo and most of the weekend.

regards

Steve
