Toyota Blizzard Info

Hello all,
just a note from Victoria, BC, Canada. I've just put a deposit down to have a Toyota Blizzard imported from Japan. I am wanting any and all info related to the Blizzard, the 2L-T and it's daihatsu counterparts.
Pics and videos would be awesome too...I need a nice Blizzard pic for my desktop!

P.S. I've heard some horror stories about 2L-T's blowing head gaskets and cracking heads. Should I be concerned???

I had a Blizzard, 2LT motor. Lot of fun, but make sure you put a bigger exhaust on. They get stuck fairly easily but mine had a factory winch that you could hang it off a tree if you wanted to.

Hi had a toyota blizzard ( customers ) once motor was ok but went better with a Lexus V8. pics in users pics under DJ's assortment

The 2L-T is Toyotas 2.4 litre turbo diesel engine. They have a rep here for cracking heads due in part to poor maintenance (both here and in Japan before they came out)... keeps them oiled and filtered every 5000km's, or at least oiled and filter every 10000.
The other big part to NZ's big 2L-T problem is our crap fuel quality apparently. Don't know what its like over there but as mentioned fitting a bigger exhaust helps draw the heat away from the head faster to help with that problem.
They are a cool wee truck, although I hope you're not tall... I can't fit in one at all
Also, they're not exactly quick... but as DJ said, they are open to all kinds of modifications... (not just a roaring V8

) the 2.8 litre diesel engine that came out in later trucks is a stronger safer motor, and there are plenty of them getting around with aftermarket turbo kits on them that makes them quite nice.

i heard that running 100% anti freeze in them helps, because when water boils it makes are, where as anti freeze/coolant doesnt, stoping air getting to the head. Just keep that in mind, im still to try it, but am going to. Appartently from a mechanic i meet thats what they do in england and japan that we dont here that stuffs with them.

bigandrew,dont take effence but 100% antifreeze will make youre engine boil even quicker that mechanic(parts fitter)who told you that should be shot

PEOPLE, dont think antifreeze helps lower engine operating temp

cos it dosent ,antifreezed is designed as anticorosive property that also prevents coolant pipes from freezeing in harsh winter climates.

In modern diesels you should never run more than 50% anti freeze or it can corode the head... (so I was told by a diesel tech)
