What options are there for replacement headlights for my landcruiser? It has the round sealed units at the mo, low beam has blown on one of them and they aren't all that bright anyway.

Are there any non-sealed ones that can fit better bulbs?
Should I stick with sealed incase they fill with water?
Are there any other trucks that I could get some 2nd hand non sealed units from?
Brands to go for?

Halogen headlights are much brighter than dim sealed units but depending on how and where you drive there hard to keep the water out of and the wof man dosent like it when there've got water in them

Cool, who supplies non sealed replacements in wgtn?

I don't think it'll be too much of a problem with water.

You can get them from repco or any auto electrician or someone like that, there just std round headlights. You can get some pretty flash halogen $$$ bulbs to go in them

Mine on my truck are unsealed (as are the spotties) - when ever I go in deep water I get up to 4 fishbowls. (can rate the extent and duration of the dip according to how many get water)

My surf was the same - in that I learnt to turn the lights off a while before going in deep water. Haven't had any bulbs blow on the cruiser yet tho. I should get some better bulbs - My headlights seem like candles when I turn the spotties off.

they do drain themselves slowly...and if the mud needs cleaning out just use a bottle brush

as long as your cruiser is 12V????? if not there are some hi-power 24V 75/70 bulbs avaialble.... i just put 2 semi sealed units into my cruiser yesturday, and they are still WOF legal! you can get 100w ones too but they not wofable....

yep its 12v, I'll definitely see what I can find at the local ripco then

i've got the hella one's in my cruiser, you can get them from L Alexander in Hania st mount vic.
heeps better than sealed units.

I got rid of my unsealed ones. Kept filling full of water every trip. Now run sealed bosch units, and a big rack of narva spotlights for open road driving.

I have Hella semi sealed units in the old Rangie with some of those brighter standard halogen bulbs fitted. I forget which brand. They actually work better than some cheap 100W bulbs I ran for several years which the WOF guys never ever noticed. ( They never noticed the p76 motor either).

So far I have not got water in them, but then you can't go in much water with the lucas dizzy. ( Which is finaly gone!)

If you do get them wet, just pull them out, drain the water, rinse with meths to flush out the water & leave in the sun or some where warm until dry.

Doesn't the p76 motor look like a rover 3.5 on the outside anyway? if so...awesome idea hah. My father had one in an rx7 which was built by a guy who had a lot of drag racing experience. Great sounding motor and lots of torque!

Yeah well the P76 & rover do look alike, but I did the conversion that keeps the SU carbs, that uses inlet manifold spacers that push the carb tops, up that means I had to put a home made bulge in the bonnet, so it's kinda obvious
