4x4 Buying survey

Post by PeterVahry »

A short survey to get an idea of how many 4x4 enthusiasts are involved in the buying of new 4x4's. The survey will stay open for a month.

Hi Peter,
Unfortunately some of us can't afford the drop in value of a new vehicle as it leaves the showroom and instead will buy near new.
Can I suggest that you also run a parallel survey for the purchasing habits of 4x4s that are just outside the factory warranty? They are a great buy and I would hope the manufacturers would be interested in the resale value of their products.

Over the last five years I have purchased two 4x4s that were approximately 38 months old with just over 36k on the clock.
I have had a great run from them service wise and would definitely consider doing the same again in the future but cant justify being the first name on the ownership papers and loosing $5k or more as I drive it the first 1000km.

Well that was a quick survey

I did have a good read about the Insurance policies that was on the main web site. Very Interesting, good cover, bloody good cover

It was most interesting to note that no where does it say pay for a day trip and you are covered, so what have I been paying for all these years and where has that money gone??????

Peter, is the third party insurance on through your club and would I have to be a member of your club (and pay the premium to NZI) or can I just go through your club (without being a paid member)? Does that make any sense??

Bubba, it is not necessary to be an Auckland 4WD club member to buy the Third Party cover for $50, but you should be a NZFWDA member. The premium is paid to the club so that we have a record.

I'm not sure of your question about day trips and where your money has gone. email me at access@nzfwda.org.nz perhaps.

The money goes into our coffers, it is a fee to make him a "temporary" member, the 4wd insurance covers members of an nzfwda affiliated club. The insurance doesn't cover the vehicle, that is covered by his own insurance.
