Motor Problems again

Post by wjw »

Having problems with my motor again (1KZ-TE) 3Lt TD... nasty knocking noises from the head, suspect the guys who replaced the cylinder head, buggered it up.

Any one got any comments? or suggestions on what to replace it with... I've had enough of this damn motor.....

cheers,

a very frustrated, bill....

(Maybe I should just fix it and sell it... or scrap it ;)

 if a workshop replaced the head on it and its not to long ago and now its makin horrible noises, i would take it in to them and say... "you fucked it up,now do it again...properly".. or something to that effect.

thats my opinion anyway

lexu's, Supra............

Sound like injector knock?? (sounds like two hammers hitting each other)

Does it still perform ok??

More smoke??

Could be a knock sensor, crank angle sensor, or some other chinese brains that have packed up.

Oil pressure good??

I suspect a knock sensor(i'm 99% sure the EFI diesels have them), my mates surf with the same motor does it for a couple of seconds on start up, then goes away like some one flicked a switch.
Its very strange.

You havn't dropped a valve have you?? Its not missing or anything??

Give us more info!!!!

couple of knocks from bottom end when started, followed by constant knocking from the tope end, when running. Dieselzone gave it the once over this morning and thing:

Cambelt could have jumped a tooth causing a valve to hit a piston. or its done a bearing, either way, I spoke to the guy who fixed the head and he's going to have a look, only snag is I have to get it to queenstown and its in wanaka....grrr...

no smoke, good oil pressure. first sign was a vibration, which I thought might be a broken engine mount.... but no.... couple of mins later the knocking started
