West Coast

Post by Smurf »

Ok, we are planning our yearly xmas trip away and we are looking for some new places to travel through on the west coast. Mainly looking for new tracks in the Westport/Greymouth areas. From Nelson we are planning to tackle New Creek to Denniston, Stockton, then down to No Name, Cock eye creek. Napoleons Hill, Nelson Creek, Gows creek. Then onto Reefton for Slab Hut creek and a few other side tracks in towards Big River. Anyone able to offer any suggestions on other places to try out? Local Knowledge is great...

Waipuna Tunnels/Napoleons hill while your there is well worth the visit if you havn't been.
Same with Big River.

Cockeye creek is next door to Noname road and is heaps of fun.

Cheek out the trip report from the coast trip, start of this year!!!

Yep, been through the Waitahu a few times now, its a good trip apart from the sandflies. No name road and cock eye creek are on the list, We went through last year at New years in the pouring rain, it was as slippery as anything so we never really got a chance to do much more then drive straight through them both as quick as possible so we didn't all get soaked. And the poor kids get a bit bit stroppy when they can't get out of the truck all day in the wet weather... hoping for better weather this time. but then it is the coast. We spent a night at Big River last year too, we bunkered down in the hut as it was still pouring with rain. Gave all the kids a bit of space while us adults got into the cards and bourbon for the night
