thermo fan specs...

Post by niblik »

well, i've got the rear mount styles radiator and i want to put a 16 - 18 inch electric fan onto it.. i realise ya get em from the usual outlet stores for around the $130 - $150ish range..

my question is a bit vague but try to stay with me, what sort of cfm does a standard cruiser viscous fan pull so i know what sort of cfm i'd be lookin for in an electric fan..?

yes yes, i realise more is gooderest but i gotta know where to start huh?

any other suppliers got a decent range of these elec fans?

any light given upon this subject would be much apreciated..

I dont have the answer to your question but I'd reckon a std Cruiser fan would shift shitloads more cfm than as many electric fans as you could stick all over that radiator would so I guess you want to go for as much as you can with the electric fans

and get a shroud built for it so that all the air possible is being sucked through the rad

hahahahaha

I can't wait to see what style of shroud you're gonna build nibby, should be huge to make it to the back

I put a commodore electric fan on mine, seemed to drag enough air thru to keep it cool, unless you were thrashing it for a long time

wtf?
I meant like this.........

Dont just attach the fans to the core, otherwise the air is only being sucked thro the smaller area of the fan, spaced out on a shroud pulls air thro over the whole core

When Rick did research for fans on my truck, he found the electric commodore fans shifted the most air, 4400 CFM. The aftermarket one I bought, which is the common one people buy does a max of 1750. It used to get REAL hot before I changed fans. And I still haven't got around to making a shroud... Last one I bought cost me $30. If you use one make sure you have a spare as the motors need a good clean every so often.

I have a spare one... so if you in a rush ... wopass can send me his (if it works) and I'll give you mine.

Wopass it is the one where the motor mounts with three screw eh?
