has any one done / or know anyone that has done this to a diesel motor? does it work well, is it worth doing, what sort of price is it worth?

it makes a big difference to power and economy. if you can afford to do it...do it, its worth it. theres a guy in cambridge who does installs and certs, also in hamilton. drive in drive out about 6k ? or buy the kit from DGas ausy and do most of install yourself which is what we did for my dads VX

The popularity of the kits in Aussie is helped by a govt grant which offsets most of the purchase price.
That and the price of LPG in aussie is around half what it is here.

The increases in economy are from substituting diesel for LPG. Since in NZ you pay more for the same energy from LPG as diesel, there's no saving there. In Aussie LPG is cheap enough to make it worthwhile.

The other problem is LPG detonates in a diesel engine, making life difficult for everything in your combustion chamber (Head, gaskets, pistons, rings etc). EGT's also need to be monitored, LPG is extra fuel which makes your EGT's climb, if not watched it can lead to meltdown.

There are a lot of marketing claims on these systems which are complete BS.

its quoted on one of the aussie sites that it takes 100,000km to get back the setup cost. most do not do it for fuel saving, its generally done for power increase.

did your dad find he gained more power, and was it worth doing. i have a nissan safari non turbo would it be a good idea to gat more power rather than a turbo?

You won't get much without a turbo. You need more air to be able to burn more fuel (of any type). Otherwise you're headed to meltdown.

Turboing the old Coal burner is by far the best option,once that has been done and more power again is needed you can go L.P.G inj or get your pump modded
