Afternoon all,
Just pondering about getting a nice big whale of a truck for dependable everyday transport, shifting kayaks, bikes, camping gear etc. Thinking about a 60 series cruiser or a 4.2 Diesel Safari. Any thoughts? In particular I'd like to know realistically what sorta fuel consumption I can look at ks per litre.
Cheers.
Greg.

Mongoose, my Automatic 2.7 Turbo Terrano gets 9 litres per 100 km (30mpg) driving from Auckland to Hamilton with a light load, if your Safari is a manual you should see 12 litres per 100 km around (22mpg). Mountainous terrain and a sick engine could decrease this quite significantly as could a heavy load or trailer
400 to 450 K's per 62L tank in a long wheelbase running the TD42.
They will stretch out to 500k's if your carefull of how you drive.
