4d56-t Rev limit 4grand?

just wondering what everyone else 2.5 mitsu diesel does coz i have a non turbo head on my turbo and was wondering if its restricting it? only getting 3,900 rpm at the rev limiter

i used to get 4100rpm when i was digging my way through mud.

cant really say as ive never hit the rev limiter,dont even no if mine has one/works.

i no ive hit the red line on dash but i dont think the rev limiter kicked in.i find out one day prob just before it goes bang
although that would mean a new power house :D :twisted:

shouldn't be - AFAIK a diesel will keep putting on the revs so long as there's fuel (of any sort - hence why pajeros run when upside down, till they go bang) going into it, and the rev limiting is done by the governor in the fuel pump.

If it's worrying you, why not get the system checked over? or when was the last time you changed the filter?

ok this was weird it did tap out at 3,900 rpm on the clock but you could still hear the engine going well beyond that, anyway i recently hooked up a boost controller gauge egt gauge etc and now the rev counter is working fine ? very weird ? doesnt make sense i did replace a pipe from the turbo to the pump with a new one maybe it was leaking and not reading right ? no idea ?
