Thompsons Track Info

Post by monstr »

Went through Thompsons yesterday (2 trucks) The run up to the summit is easy with a lot of work having been done on the track there is 2 or 3 parts that if you were in a shiney on 31s you would most likely need a pull through but in general the track is in great cond and many thanks must go to those responsilbe for repairing all the slips etc,the run from the summit to Katikati hasnt really changed from the last visit the holes are proberly a bit deeper some nearly over the bonnet but it had rained heavily the night before and was still raining of and on at the time there are two dodgey areas on corners where the bank is slipping and does not feel good in a big truck (safari) but with a bit of care are both driveale ,not wanting to damage the truck we had 4 winches up to the bomb site but then the skys opened up with thunder and lightning and rain the size of golf balls we turned around as we intended to go both ways the way back is easyer with one extra winch up the rock face .we were out of the track by 3pm and saw nobody apart from on the gravel road leading up to the start a couple of young guys in a Surf had been playing on the side of the road (where they shouldnt of been anway) and had managed to roll it of the band and into the middle of the road, helped get them back on there wheels .will post up some pick tonite..
