Hey all, well after making a pest of myself in the Diahatsu Forum ive discovered that they are a great little beastie but they are just too small for a family of 4, went shopping with a very very limited budget for something a little bigger, Stumbled on this old 88 LWB Gen 1 Pajero for $1400, havnt had a chance to take it offroad yet as i only picked it up last weekend and have spent this weekend changing oil/filters etc .. it's only got 190 000 k's on the clock but it was 10000k over it's last oil change and the air fillter was so chocked with dust im supprised it ran at all even with new filters etc its sure no speed deamon, seems to just amble up to 100kph rather than accellerating!
altho it seems to have plenty of torque.
the prevous owner has replaced all the shocks the rear ones seam to be 4 way adjustable (they have a little slot for winding a cam type thing around from 1-4) and discovered that it has a LSD .. how good are the Gen 1 LSD's ?? my Daihatsu had one originally but i killed it within a few weeks of offroading.
would a 8000lb winch be suitable for these things?? not looking a winch challanges lol just something to pull it out of the sand/mud on the odd time i get stuck.
Not going to do too much to this one for a little while, as most of my 4wding as of late has been on sand, might add a winch and call it quits for now, it has Dunlop Wranger at/r's fitted that are near new so ill wear them out before i bother with new rubber, what are the Wrangers like as a "general AT" type tyre??
anyways here a "before" foto
