m series motors and turbo's

I just bought a 6m motor off japspares and have planned to turbo it with a 7m manfold and ct26 turbo.
I already have a non turbo 5m which has been doing just fine powering the surf which will do til i rebuild the 6m.
It shouldnt be too complex a swap seeing it should bolt right in as long as the plumbing fits. That being said I haven't ever done anything of this sort before so any advice or questions would be great.

If you are adding a turbo to a non turbo motor don't put the boost up too high, there are a few issues to overcome,

1) you will be running a higher compression ratio so may need to decompress the head a little or pull the timing back and run good fuel to stop pinking (thicker head gasket, or shave a couple of MM off the top of the piston's (if you can) or do some head work inside the top of the cylinder head)

2) You will need to increase the fueling, so add a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and keep the boost pretty low (5-8) on a factory computer max.

3) you may need to look at the engine cooling possibly just get a thermostat that open's earlier.

4) you will always want more and if you can tune your computer you will need dyno time so look and see if anyone has a factory chip that allows for the boost you want to run.

Bolting a turbo up is not difficult there is a couple of oil lines supply and return and some have water cooling also you will need a blow off valve as a turbo doesn't like stopping in a hurry and you definatley don't want the engine to backfire as this can destroy the compressors, but it is very rewarding to have boost when you need to clear tyres or overtake good luck and do a build thread on the motor as you go. :D
