BJ74 Landcruiser Lost Vacuum

Post by Kiwimidi »

HI guys my 13BT landcruiser lost its suck today. started it in the shed very flat battery and only just started then backed it out with a very heavy clutch then went to turn it off and it wouldn't stop.

so i know its lost vacuum but why and what is the easiest way to narrow down the fault. or are there some common palces for these to go faulty??

thanks in advance for your helpful suggestions

funny you should say that: first time i put my foot on the clutch it went straight to the floor and did not come back up. had a look and the thread into the peddal had come out. i wonder if the piston came out to far without the pedal stopping it, but the clutch still works fine??

Hi

Vacuum on these comes from the vacuum pump on the back of the alternator.

there are lots of small hoses running to the clutch, brake and other places.

From the sound of is you need to sort the clutch first. Then if you still dont have vacuum you can check that the pump is working. then follow all the vacuum pipes around the engine bay and check for cracks.......

Good luck

Good advise Henry, But from past experience with this truck , and what Eli is discribing. It sounds like the clutch master cylinder again. If you still have boosted brakes, then I would guess its the clutch master cyl. The vacume leak will also be causeing the engine stop to fail.
