surf proportioning valve

Hi all, one of the guys at work was told by Mr WOF to adjust his proportioning valve on the brakes in his 1992 LN130 Hilux Surf. I havn't had a chance to look at it yet, but if I could get a heads up on where it is located on the vehicle and how to adjust it properly that would be great. Thanks all.

has the surf been lifted ? if so the easiest way is to just add a block to compensate for the lift.

On the back of the rear diff head there's a bolt which has a line going to the proportioning valve which is on the chassis.
You should just be able to give the nuts a couple of turns and that should change it a bit.

Wouldn't have thought you would need to adjust this on stock standard suspension though.

Did the WOF guy put your hilux on a breakmachine to tell there was a problem or did he just do it by feel ????

with no lift, unless the valve arm has been hit or otherwise adjusted, you should not need to adjust it.
more than likly the rear brakes are out of adjustment or worn.

Don't know my friend, I just saw the fella's WOF sheet.

Will have a look see tomorrow to find out what's going on with the poor girl, may just be another case of Mr WOF talking fancing words whilst not knowing what he is talking about
