Hi guys,
Wondering how people have gone about adding an oil pressure guage to their 3.8 v6? Want to put one on my new motor as people have suggested i do it. I'm assuming i should leave all the wires to the computer in the plug so it doesn't think i've lost pressure. Gonna go with one of these: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 347026.htm as i already have a tacho and water temp guage in the series which i'll be installing some time this week hopefully. Also can someone tell me what pressure it should be showing?
Cheers, Tim

Re: how to add Oil pressure guage to commie 3.8v6?
and apparently it comes with a sender unit. where would i put that?
Re: how to add Oil pressure guage to commie 3.8v6?
Check on the block near the current sender unit. There may be a blanked off port ther you can use.
Or get a t piece and fit both senders to the same hole (what I did to my Chevy v6)

I always go for the mechnical gauges, where the oil runs up a pipe al the way to the gauge. Less wireing and stuff to do wrong.
You will need a "T Piece" as heath said.
Best thing to do, if you still have your old motor is take the sender unit out of that, and the new sender unit that come with the gauge, and go to a engineering shop and match up a T Piece to the threads on the two senders, making sure there is a male end the on the T that has the same threads as the original sender so it will screw into the block.
Once the T piece is in the block, screw the two senders to the T piece.

Went to see where the original sender is and it looks as though it's some sort of special attachment and not an actual bolt hole as such. Couldn't see any bolts that weren't doing anything as blanks...
Could i drill and tap something or is that a bad idea?
Or could i jump off the cables to the original sender and just use that instead of a new sender? I'm only assuming that it's the oil pressure sender as well.
Or just go with one of these as it looks a hell of a lot easier. Anyone got one of these on and do they work? Seems odd how it can do oil pressure and temp...

Haha just looked again and realised it has bolt holes for a sender
