It's prob stuck on the orings (that will have gone hard). Spray some WD40 or CRC penetrant (or try some Blaster - real good stuff) around it and leave for a while then have a go.

i think there is a bolt that holds the cable in,(someone else may be able to confirm this) is it the cable you are removing? . have you undone it?

Yeah got the cable out no probs. It's the actual drive that won't budge.

plenty of WD40, leave, then polygrips or similar and wiggle it clockwise/anti clockwise until it starts moving.

As above but if it really won't budge ( and the bolt is out :) ) get a chissel and start tapping it round and round , after a few turns it will start to work its way out with the polygrips . Can make a bit of a mess of the end of it but this can be filed up or get another one . i think there are about 3 that I kick from corner to corner of the shed , must clean that up one day :(

It's out....finally!
Tried the new CRC freeze off penetrant (not as inpressive as the rep would have you believe - surprise suprise).
Ended up welding a bolt to it and had it out in 10 seconds

Tried the freeze crap also (borrowed it from work) and its hopeless. CRC penetrate is better.

If you are looking for something like a penatrant to undo bolts etc and they can handle a little change of colour :) . Look for something called diepenatrant . It is used to detect cracks etc , used in two parts . Spray on penatrant , let soak in and wipe off . then spray with a fluro reactor and any imperfrctions show up .

Just need the die half off it , worms its way into almost anything . The bummer is its usually bright red .
