Below is what I have posted on the 4x4 Challenges website for discusion. This for those wanting to represent the North Island at the final.

We need to sort out a qualifying proceedure for the National Final next year. We are looking at about 10 to 15 teams with a split between Club and Challenge classes. The Mainland guys are sending up their best so we want to have a best there as well. First time around we want this to be a really good event without any BS.

I think we need to allocate point for each sanctioned event similar to how we allocate point per stage in an event. eg 100 for first, 95 for second and so on. I also thinkk we then need to have a dnf clause so that you need to complete most (90%?) of the stages in an event otherwise you get a DNF (20 points).
I also think we need to have a dispensation for those guys that stand down from an event to run it. Last years events were all run by competitors and I was the only one to run one and race in it and that will not happen again as it is too much work! I think something like averaging out their other performances and allocating that number of points to the one they organise. Ultimately we need more events so those running them need to be encourgaed!

There has also been talk of wild card entries so these could be used for event organiser instead of above but if every event has some stand down then that is all wild cards gone to organisers which I don't think is the right way to do it.

These are some ideas to get things started and get people thinking. If you don't like them then come up with a better idea, we need solutions not negativity. I'd like to get something in place by the end of January so if you have some ideas then lets get them out there so that we can get this sorted.
