Finally got round to it!

Hello, I've been looking at the Forum for a while but not bothered about trying to register, but I enjoy reading everyone's posts so took the plunge.
I'm a recreational/not hard out 4WD girlie, I usually hang out with a small 4WD club in Canterbury who do a lot of social trips which is right in my line of things, although due to financial constraints there hasn't been anything much in the way of trips for us in the past 18 months.
My Prado is bog standard which suits me just fine as it is my only vehicle so has to cover a lot of roles from daily driving to carting the children around with their pamphlet deliveries and paraphenalia (sp?) to heading up the river for a swim or a day out in peace and quiet with my lovely bloke who is fully into the outdoor lifestyle. He is teaching the kids bushcraft and stuff as he was in the army and comes from a farm background, but even so we still like to have our comforts when we go camping out! I'm too much of a softie for the hard stuff (unless it's alcoholic hard stuff of course...)
We are an outdoorsy family, I grew up 4WDing and have continued the tradition with my kids and hopefully they will do the same. I live in a rural area near a town and close to some of North Canterbury's finest rivers which is my idea of paradise! I joke to the kids that they are growing up country bumpkins and it's getting so that going to the big smoke (Chch) is exciting 'cause they get to see real life traffic lights

I like where we live - we can wander down the streets of the local town in muddy/budget priced gear and fit in really well, no one gives you a second glance if you don't wear designer labels! They are more interested in your brand of gumboot... and if it really keeps the water out!
I know some of the guys on here from a previous incarnation, it's interesting to keep up with the tech stuff you guys do even though I'm no longer involved in the club I was in for 20 something years I value the photos and info re the modifications to vehicles, they are really interesting thanks!

Weclome. There are lots of good ORE people down in CHCH. Tim and AL (hosehustler and albundy) are good contacts to have down there and seem to do lots of trips. Drop them a PM.
See you in the bush sometime

Don't be shy in asking questions where needed.

Yeah I managed to pick up a bit of stuff over the years I was in the CLROC. I started out in about 1984 with a LR - a 1953 80" shared with my father and moved on to Toys from there. I've never been a girlie girl, my toys when I was younger were all Matchbox cars and farm implements shared with my big brother...
Since my marriage brokeup I have kept away from 4WD circles a bit, made lots of friends in my new location, stuck to 4WD people I've known since I was a youngster out 4WDing with Dad and Mum, rather than poke my nose in and create hard times for people - you know how it is when marriages break up, it's quite hard on other people really! Makes for some difficult situations, or could if you were that way inclined and I certainly don't want to cause problems for others or put them in a hard place for who to talk to/not to talk to. Bit hard when you both were members of the same club before you got together, eh! But it would be nice to be able to catch up with some of the guys and other girlies and have a laugh.
So hopefully I can meet up with some of the locals sometime, not sure if it's a good idea entirely and it makes me a bit nervous sort of, but I reckon my problems aren't other peoples problems and hopefully being people I've known since I was very young and starting out many moons ago it can all go happily and I can join in. I'm not interested in rehashing previous things that happend - my motto is Onwards and Upwards and it even says that on my business cards!
Life is for living and having fun, but by hell I miss being one of the blokes!!!

AL, Richard and Myself are members of CLROC and I am a member of another club, don't be shy come out on the trips that interest you and you never know those 35" tyres could be going under the Prado in no time
You are looking for trips in grades 1 to 3, much more than that and you are in deep water or rut's, no real issue but you may not want to risk playing in the river yet and you never know Mike may convince you to get another Landy to tow behind the Prado.

Hi Mocca
Welcome to ORE .in the ChCH area there are quite a few day trips so hopefully you will meet some neat people.
I have belonged to the CLROC for about 10 years so may have come across you at some time. You would probably see people in some of my videos that you know. I have a lot of good friends in the Landrover club but because I live in Nelson I only do a couple of trips a year.
Anyway welcome aboard and keep moving forward and upwards.
If you need any help PM me
Cheers Richard

Wecome to the board Mocca.
Nice choice of vehicle there!
I lived in Rangoon for many years so you've probably seen my truck about, only shifted to town late last year.
Plenty to see and trips to go on, all types too, here on ORE.
Cheers John
