Hi, Does anyone know a good place in auckland or north auckland that specialises in turbo rebuilds? The seals are gone on my turbo but the rest of it looks in good nic would this require a full rebuild? If so whats the going price on a rebuild?
Thanks

i would have thought it would have been blowing out blue smoke if it was the turbo seals that had gone.

What I've been told is that oil once in turbo or turbo exhaust heats up so high it comes out white straight out the exhaust.

i rebuilt my turbo the week before queens birthday as the seals went. youll certainly know when theyre knackered, i had whitey blue smoke just piss out of my exhaust. Full rebuild kit was $300 plus ultrasonic cleaning $30 and was quoted $1000-$1500 for a workshop to do it. all up i woulda spent 5hours on it..hopefully you dont get quoted that much from whoever you go to!!
Ryan.

The ones I've blown have produced noticably blue smoke.
Turbos rely on the pressure being higher in the compressor and exhaust housings than in the centre section. If that reverses (which happens if the turbo stops spinning) then it blows oil out resulting in heaps of smoke. Like following a mitsubishi galant from the lights, but it doesn't stop.
