Got energised to pull the front hubs etc off the front and remove the disk brake covers (and paint the calipersd after cleaning them a little. Had a tool made up at work to remove the bearing retainer nut (has 4 studs to fit the four holes and a 1/2 inch socket in the end) so I can torque things up instead of guessing with a punch and hammer. also got some ball type allen keys (sick of forcing the old ones) and hex sockets too.

Got all the tools out and it started to rain. Put everything in the garage and read my book until it stopped. Got all the tools out and it started to rain. Put everything in the garage and read my book until it stopped. Got all the tools out and it started to rain. Put everything in the garage and read my book until it stopped. Got all the tools out and it started to rain. Got pissed off and put everything away in the garage and gave up.

Have decided to just make do with the old rear brakes (might swap lwb rears on though) until I can geta "bolt on (or as damn near as) rear disk system". My 'A' frame (well the parts) the old man was making got biffed by some guys at his work (cleaning up for christmas) while he was on sick leave so I have to find another one before I can move the POS to get an exhaust made. So far this weekend sux, still have tomorrow (and the fact I am on leave for three weeks) to look forward to.

plans were simple - wire up front spots. 20 minute job max.

instead though me and moonhopper had a few bourbons and came up with a great plan to fit and wire up on-board-air and an electric fan on my scud. all went well til i realised i had bought the wrong wire, terminals and relays. we got most of it done though through perserverance(sp) and lots of barrel 51 & export. ive now got fully functioning air pump and the electric fan just needs the right relay fitting - but it works!! pissed up wiring is bound to create fun times in the future me thinks

the spots are still in the box though

Just fixed a diesel leak in my Bosch VE Injector Pump speed timer cover (pressure side). Pulled the cover off and found the o-ring has suffered serious erosion and pitting... is this an age thing, a fuel issue, or is the moreys fuel additive I use occasionally causing this?

you sure the o ring was not nicked /cut on assembly, any other o rings showing the same erosion?

Did the same and got close to levelling out the front with the back, managed to avoid any broken noses and/or black eyes!

Hi Pedro,

Thought that also when I first saw it. had a look at the o-ring seat, no problems there as it sits fully snugged against all flat surfaces with no moving parts apparently near enough. The cover is simply a flat plate with no macined seating surface, just flat. Can't quite see it in the photo (can if you magnify it on IE page zoom) but the seams of the o-ring have started eroding also. Could be a faulty o-ring but it is an older pump so it may have been faulty for a while but only started leaking badly now but I don't think so.

I am really hoping it isn't in any of the other o-rings in the injector pump - major issues if there are.

One reason why I ask about fuel issues and wondering if anyone else is having problems is I got caught out in the late 1995 bad petrol issue (imported from Malaysia) where there were too much aromatics (or some other crap) that ate o-rings in holdens and falcons carbys. Am hoping it is not a similar issue with some of the imported diesel.

some of the additives in modern diesels do eat o rings in some older diesels often all they need is just a replacement o ring pajero injector pumps often have 3 o rings that get eaten by modern diesel most people replace the top 2 and don't realise there is a third one. yorick had that issue on his paj injector pump and mentioned it to a mechanic mate of his and he said oh yeah they all do that

OK, cheers for that, I'll have to look at the schematic diagram again to count the seals and head to Autokraft tomorrow I think and get a seal kit. Injector Pump is on a 1986 engine and I don't know whether anything has been done to the IP in that time. Could be heading into big problems as if it has happened to this seal it may well have happened to the others.

and we will continue this through to the nex weekend as for alot of us its holiday time, so every day is a saturday....
fixed my dodgy steering, adjusted steering box play, feels real good now, no play at all...
removed front bumper valance/skirt, as after me last trip out think it was the culprit for putting sum nasty cuts in my tires on the outa lugs.. gona get out the hammer and file and smooth out some of the sharp edges on the inner gaurds also,
just fitted x2 rated recovery hooks to the front of me truck, look good.
next on the cards, is
Purchase tubes for me tyres
buy new steering dampner and then get wheel alignment.
that should do for the holiday period
oh yea and, building rear platform for the back, as ive already ripped out back seats, gona build platform to sit on wheel archers, will be to serve many purposes, place to lay me head for me n the mrs over our xmas holiday travels, and will be enuf room for storage underneath, for the shit i dont wana see ie: spade, recovery gear etc, and the fishing rods too

Have a look at the seam that runs up the firewall in front of the driver and passenger, some gentle massaging (BFH) and you will have less rub issues
