Any tips on changing the starter motor on a 1990 TD27t?

Pay someone else to do it :D :D :D Sorry I know its no help but I could not resist -
Seriously though ...
I have done starters on a number of vehicles and the younger they are the harder they are to get to ...
Oh and remember to lift the Pos terminal off the battery before you start ... Its cheaper and safer (no I haven't done it)

Realy long extension and flexi joint threaded through the inlet manifold is about the only way to get the top bolt. Its easyish if your extension is long enough. Joining a couple of short ones makes it a bit harder, room is at a premium.

Bottom bolt from underneith. Good luck expect skined knuckles

Did the job today while the inlet manifold was off fixing the leak in the injector pump. [Piece of Piss.]
