84+85 models have a beam axle, or solid axle front end in them, 86 onwards surfs are IFS
,
if you can hang out and find the earlier model you will have much more enjoyment offroad and the extra money you spend on one will be worth it on the cost of modifications in the future
If you wanna go offroad don't buy the IFS model

If you wanna give Tims winch a good workout get a IFS one.
I brought mine about 6 weeks ago, 158000K's, Head has been done, radiator has been recored, GREAT contition. 2 owners, the last guy had it for like 8 years. Sunroof. Larger zaust. Bulbars.
And all for $2100. Look in the buy sell man, people on trademe are dreaming asking over $3000
There was a really mint one in a yard in chch, low k's, 31" Maxis Mudders, for about $3.
Look in the buy sell exchange gor a good price man.
