just a query on a broken rocker arm Pajero 2.5tdi
does anyone have any ideas on why it might happen?
could it be possible of within 300kms of having timing belt etc done
the truck smoked black and was down in power before rocker arm went.

timing belt installed incorrectly, timing on camshaft out and causing valves to come in contact with top of pistons?
I'd be checking all your other rockers and valve stems

Could be a head off job to check the pistons also. Free rebuild if it was installed wrong by someone you paid.

rocker arms on diesels are known to break when the engine is over revved

sounds like t/belt has slipped and pistons have hit valves.

You can't over rev a diesel

Standard 2.5 mitsi thing to do. Id say the timing belt has moved and things have touched.
The rockers break and it usually saves the valves.
