Hi bud, you will be very lucky to find a second hand manifold for a td42. best option is to go and get a custom hi flow top mount manifold made. They flow a lot btter than the log style manifold found on the factory turbo td42,s and most of the aftermarket kits. I got Warren from performince metal works in Silverdale to make mine, got a water to air intercooler on there to. Send me a pm if you wont to take a look. Hope this helps.

Topgear Auto Tech in East Tamaki (273 3947) also do them and as they have also worked on a lot of winch trucks and off road trucks they know what is required strength wise.
Also Kerry is my bro-in-law did the manifolds for my truck and that seems to go quite well :!: so must know what he is doing!!!!!

Sorry to thread jack..but kind of related.
I saw pics somewhere tho I cant for the life of me find them.. Someone had done it using the factory manifold and making a custom 2 pipe 'U' piece with a downpipe flange on one end and turbo flange on the other, to highmount a turbo off the factory manifold.
Obviously this isnt the best solution..but I dont see why it wouldnt work well enough on the big ol' diesel, if braced properly to support the weight without cracking. Depends on your budget i guess.

I saw a J pipe on a trademe Safari very recently with a J pipe.

I'm wanting to know where i can get one from too. Obviously much cheaper than a full manifold.

Manifold cost $1200, worth every cent thow. Water to air intercooler made a big diferance also.

A single long exhaust flange like that will eventually warp and pop exhaust gaskets (usually #1 or 6 cyl). You might want to think about running a few cuts through the flange to let them move around a bit.

The manifold flang is 14mm thick plasma cut steel and has been on there for a bit now. It will only blow exhaust gaskets if you have broken manifold studs. The intercooler I got through a frend in the states. If your looking for a warter to air cooler, (by far the best option) talk to Warren from 4wdbits/perromance metal works.

My original manifold was like yours, also 14mm thick and with any decent boost it would blow gaskets easily. Manifold studs had nothing to do with it, but after a year of continually having the flange decked I gave up and had a proper extractor manifold built (more equal length runners etc). Haven't had a problem since.

Mine has been on there around 10 months with 12psi and havent blowen anything yet. Using the proper nissan steel gaskets helps, the after market ones are crap! Got a pic uf yours?

I only ever use the Nissan stainless gaskets and replace them each time the manifold has to come off for whatever reason. No pics on hand, but it was built by Kerry H at Topgear Auto Tech in 2004 from memory. It will be coming off again when I replace my motor and gearbox in the near future. Got a I/C being built at the moment to help make the new motor last.

Hey Steve,
The theory behind it seems sound, just not sure if it will work the same in practice though? :? Will get the fresh motor chucked in and see what happens.

Will give you a bell tonight about the fuel pump advance.
