giday killed my 2nd rocky the other day so i have now up graded to a 1996 swb prado rs (3litre turbo) auto box, currently it is stock standard. shit tyres, shit ground clearance, shit flex you know all the usual stock problems the only good thing is the power and the factory diff lock in the rear end
what is there out there that will make this truck better other than the obvious tyres and suspension lift
cheers cam

Re: new prado, need ideas for cheap and easy mods
Hi I had a swb RX Prado and the first things i did was remove the sway bars and fit front 80 series standard height springs and longer shocks to the rear and that allowed the rear to actually flex very well for what it was and the front i had a engineer make up a simple lift spacer to bolt between the strut and strut mount and that worked mint, had it lifted for around $150 and then just fitted tow hooks and it was a good truck but being so damm short you will be lifting the front wheels all over the place but they can still be capable if you realize there limitations.
Re: new prado, need ideas for cheap and easy mods
im used to lifting wheels, the rocky was shorter than most swb 4x4's out there and it would lift a wheel at the drop of a hat, have you got any pics of the spacers, might have to look at doing what you've mentioned

Do you remember how big were your spacers to match the lift from the 80 springs out back and what shocks you used?

Hi there, Yes the spacers where 40mm but the 40mm actually gave more like 60mm so if i did it again i would prob use 30mm ones, The front easily had room for my 33,s with the 40mm spacers but the front was a little higher than the rear so the 30mm ones would of suited my truck but i didnt have any extra weight either so no bull bar or winch etc.
Cheers
