Working on diffs

Post by Weasel »

Smashed front diff other weekend so went to put replacement in...but from 2L V6 and turns out diameter of driveshafts are larger so 1.6L ones just rattle around!

Main wheel (that the crown wheel?) had 41 teeth on factory one, ex-V6 one has 39 teeth, anyone know how to calculate ratios from that? Does that mean was 5.12 but V6 is 4.875? Or was 4.875 but V6 one is 4.625 one?

So now can either stick with V6 diff and see if V6 axles fit in with rest of 1.6L front end...anyone know if does? Or look for 1.6L diff with the same 41 teeth!

And yes I have the rear from V6 too so would have to change it cuz of diff ratio, pity autolockers are bout $700 :(
