Do you guys find these tyres noisy on the road?
We have them on the work 4x4 utes at work and they hum like buggery on the open road.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

we run them on a couple of work utes. little bit noisy but you get used to it. ok on tarseal but its certianly not a 100% tarseal tire so don't push it. its great on gravel roads and good on wet grass. ok in mud for an AT tire, its not a mud tire.
quiet a good allrounder, certainly better than any other AT i've had on.

Just so that everybody is clear MT/R stands for Maximum Traction Radial tyres. Goodyear has never advertised it is a dedicated mud tyre. They definitely are not All Terrain either.

ditto, found them shit on the safari. Sidewalls too soft and prone to tearing on rocks.

I had them in 32's on my first surf and now have them in 33's on another surf I found them a good comprimise between road manners and off road performance, certainly not a fully agressive mud/extreme tyre like a simex or something but much better on the road and worked well in loose stuff like pea shingle and sand, don't just dig big holes like some others..
Have a look at some of the maxis tyres as well there are some good prices for similar tyres.

What do you call a Mud Terrain? If the MTR is an All Terrain, then I take it you call most "MT" tyres such as Maxxis/BFG etc etc All Terrain?

I'm onto my second set, first were 32s now I have 33s and I have found them fantastic for everything I have done so far. As for price, one of the main reasons I got them is because they were the cheapest tyre I could find.

i often hear the MTR classed as an "aggressive AT" rather than an all out mud tire. mind you most AT's i see on vehicles are more tarseal tire than offroad. i think a lot of companies have multiple AT tires with different levels of offroad ability.

I agree, most people think an MUD TERRAIN should be the like of Simex etc, but most are used to the term mud tyre being used on the semi agressive "MT" labelled tyres, whereas they are more of an all rounder.
Of the MT Branded tyres, I have found the MTR a good allrounder, and for the price I wouldn't go past it, although when I go to 35's it will be interesting what the price difference will be between those and the Creepies etc.
If the KL71 came in 35's I'd give them a go

Had my 33s on for a few months now and love em.

was told by one person that they were an all terrain tyre and hence went better on sand than the BFG mud terrain. Upon some prompt measurements and calculations, the BFG mud was less agressive and hence was more the AT.

Go figure.

Once upon a merry time the simexs etc were for the upper echelon of comps, and the likes of the Wrangler, Buckshot, RT01s etc WERE the everyday mans "Mud Tyre" and an AT was somewhere in between these and road tyres. Seems now we could safely have 4 types instad of the traditional 3. Road, AT, Mud and Comp Mud. (????)
