have a 16 16v efi engine has been sitting a while in the back shed,
just another rainy day project. dragged it out and tried to bar it over,
got half a turn and locked, remove the plugs and look out oil every where??
is this a common problem when they have been sitting, unused for 18 months
or is it another story???
any advise would be appricated,.

someone may have put oil in the cylinders to stop it from siezing from storage then when you tried to turn it over it hydraulicked on compression so you couldnt turn any further? have you tried to turn it over after taking the spark plugs out? if its still solid then its siezed or worse if it turns freely with plugs out then i would just assume the oil was put there... maybe...

just a guess tho

Maybe the engine sat on it's side during transit. The oil may have run up the bores and past the ring gaps.
