Eletrical gremlin

I had a problem this morning when starting the Safari, made a loud ticking noise, and wouldn't start. The bell (when keys in ignition with door open) would go, but then that eventually stopped working too after trying to start again.
I checked all fuses, and the battery, and didn't find a problem, but when I went back to look for the problem at lunch time, it started again as if there wasn't a problem.

Is there a relay that could have caused this? Just want to find what may have been the most likely problem, and replace to be on the safe side.

Cheers,
Dave

First place to start with any electrical fault is earths and connections.

Check the battery to body, body to engine, chassis etc etc. Don't overlook earths in the cabin for the dash and steering column. Make sure everything is tight and clean.

I find 90% of intermittent issues go away with a good tidy up.

Matt.

Electrical gremlins? they come standard with nissans dont they ;)
But yeh sounds like above..dirty or loose earth, connection to starter, or battery terminals. Sounds like that, sometimes trying to start just ticks the solenoid as if flat, but batt is ok just a dirty connection somewhere isnt letting enough current thru. Often very intermittent
