auto sparky / radio installer

Post by fweddy »

I have a AM CB in my truck from when I got it, I don't think it is connected up properly as I don't get anything on it like I did when I first got it (bad connections I believe)

Also recently I got myself a basic UHF unit (Uniden UH-011 UHF PRS) which I need to install. (plus get a suitable aerial) - has any one here done the scan mod to one of these?)

Also my CD deck needs to be wired through with a continuous feed as every time I turn the truck off it resets. (might be complicated as its running through a reducer (24-12v)

Is any one around this area competent to give a hand one day/evening with something like this?
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.
Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.

Easy to do mate, just decide on where to mount, and run the cable from the aerial (you need a sep one for the UHF), to the unit. You will have to push through a rubber on the firewall.

Next find a good earth. Im guessing your truck is 24 volt, so you will need to run from one of the batts

Next you need a positive. If you want to run while the key is off, run a lead from one of the batts (same as the neg), otherwise you need to run a relay system.

Any questions drop me a PM
