Police car shot at in East Otago

Can you imagion the high speed chase in a landy, were the cops on foot? Maybe it was all downhill and it only stopped when it reached the bottom.

Maybe it wasn't a shooting but a Rover motor backfiring, that would be normal wouldn't it? Oh no, it would have to be firing first wouldn't it?

BREAKING NEWS: A major manhunt (by both policemen) is underway in East Otago after a police car (there only one) was shot at near Oamaru.

A police statement said the shots were fired from a Landrover, believed to be stolen (why bother?), in the Palmerston area about 2pm.

Police had earlier attempted to stop the vehicle (on foot coz their only car got shot up), which is now stopped stopped (it's what Land Rovers do) just north of Palmerston, on Horse Range Rd. A man, woman and two young children were later seen fleeing across paddocks (proving it's faster to run than to drive a LandRover).

State Highway 1 has been closed and police cordons are in place.

Palmerston residents have been warned to stay in their homes. Schools have also been advised.

Could have been worse:

" 2 Men broke into Turoa's shed, and attempted to steal one of the 7 project vehicles, but none were in a drivable state"

And before you say it, I know you don't have that many, and yes the ones you have are drivable

Noticing a theme happening here...

Land Rovers get stolen and toyotas get 'molested'... Two different levels of desirable I guess, the former for discerning citizens and the latter for devo's...

Did you notice in the NEWS clip they used a high speed cross country pursuit vehicle to catch it (HSCCPV) or as we know it, a FJ75

If he'd stolen one of my land rovers, I'd have made sure it was filled up and given him a medal!

I am on the way, put a sign on the one with the keys in it and has the fuel......

NO dont confuse me by keys in one and fuel in the other..

Even a landrover can be sold to someone, after all, YOU have some.

I can sell them back to you..... easy money to be made here....
