I've got a 2H D in my 40, I'm thinking of fitting a couple of electric fans...
one in front of the radiator and the other behind. Thus removing the
viscuss unit.

I’m not sure how the temp circuit works? i.e. turns on and off at a set temp.
Does anyone know who sells such a devise that I could wire in?
Anyone done something like this? the old 2h is pre fancy ttl circuit control for temp so I assume there must be a temp sender I may be able to gerry up on a relay circuit?

why are you changing it?

Any auto sparky will be able to sell you the bits or fit them - or you can buy a complete off the shelf unit from most auto parts stores... I know SuperCheap have them.

Presume you are swapping for deep water work, so you can disable them? I'm not sure if you were going to put two in, that one in front and one behind is the best idea... you'll get harmonics created by different flow rates and different speeds... could make funny noises or go loud then quiet... maybe I'm thinking too scientifically about this... I'd run a couple of draggers side by side behind the rad - theres plenty of room in those old busses...

Or go the whole hog and get a Taurus fan - they suck like linda lovelace... they're huuuge - Matt has one sitting at the shed for the LT1 conversion in his 60-series... they are the bees knees for cooling - 2 speeds and about a squillion cubic feet per minute of air .

Cheers steve, I'll ignore the old bus snype for now.

I'll do abit of digging and see what I can find.
Why am I changing it? well when my winch goes on the front I fear it might restrict the air flow so to get around this I need to increase the suck so to speak. The existing fan on the viscus unit has a couple of blades missing and I don't think it'll be up to it when the winch goes on. Hence put something bigger that sucks more:) reason for two was abit of redundancy (in case one failed)
I don't mind if it sounds like an army chopper inbound... it's a forty so it's obtrusive anyway or should I say if it sucks more air in I might get 2kph faster top end? ha ha.

Electric is better on 4wd's so long as you can turn it off! (water) and on when you want, then back to normal. Besides I can put a run light inside the truck so I can see when it's running.

mm I seem to recall Isuzu has been in the heavy industry longer than toyota and toyotas use to use isuzu blocks / parts so maybe, kind of, in a twisted sort of way, out of old scrap isuzu parts an old bus! bleemin bus, O the shame of it!
