My safari failed its warrent on excessive play in the ball joints on the drag link, just wondering if these can be replaced or does a whole link need to be sourced? looks like it is all one solid piece? any help would be appreciated.

yep mynes all solid . bnt should be cheapest

Hey, Some Are Solid but ii have seen a adjustable/seperate tie rod unit. Have seen both come from partmaster

The standard draglinks infront of the diff on GQ wagons are one-piece units and are generally not rebuildable (although it can be done). Replacement ones are available from Nissan for lotsa $$.

You can get rod ends though, so if you know a helpful Nissan branch that can find the part number for you, they should be about $150 each. Alternatively, do a search on here as I've posted the part numbers many times previously.

EDIT: Here are the #'s ....4852-001J10 and 4857-001J10 for left and right hand

Nah, just GQ. GU have different bolt dia and taper. These will work on the bigger GQ box though like yours.

thanks for the help guys, i thought it might of been difficult to rebuild them so ill have a look around to see what i can get

Are these ball joints and cromolly tube rather expensive? I dont get how that could cost nearly $300.

Price a factory (i.e. weak as piss) draglink from Nissan...not much change from $800! So one (or even two at that price) of 4WDBits chromoly units is cheap as chips!

Those look the same or quite similar to the ones on trademe. My factory ones have grease nipples on em though too, is that not necessary with the cro-mol ones??

The only problem with that is it is always the top balljoint at the steering box that dies and the one at the diff is still OK. One with rodends like Warren sells are the way to go. Much cheaper to buy and when one end packs up just replace that one at about $50.

Two of my friends have brouhgt the chromoly tie rods from 4wdbits,good price IMO and no more bent tie rods every coast trip,they look well made to me.

We're not selling Chromoly tie rods and drag links any more, once bent they would cracked when straightening which made it dangerous to keep driving. We have heavy duty mild steel ones now, still adjustable with replaceable ball joints. They can also be straightened and are safe to keep using, but like anything will eventually crack with repeated bending back and forth.
