On Saturday afternoon we had a 50th wedding anniversary to attend, all dressed up we got into the LN130 surf put the key in the ignition and that was it no matter how much i wiggled the key and the steering wheel the key would not turn. Later on that night after a couple of drinks

, I proceeded to remove the dash and get the lock out

. Now anyone who wears progressive lens glasses will know how awkward it is working upside down doing close up work looking through the long sight of the F-ing spectacles, not to mention the (cough) to many Drinks. The lock is fitted with tamper proof bolts that have to be drilled out or in my case tapped around with a centre punch. Once the assembly was on the bench I then had the problem of getting the barrel out, as the key couldn't be turned I couldn't get the barrel into the on position so the plunger could be depressed to remove the barrel, after much deliberation and another drink I found that a bloody good bang on the bench with pressure to the key it turned. I then with unsteady hands removed all the brass tumblers and F-ing small springs, cleaned it all got a small points file and removed any Dag's, I didn't find a lot wrong with it. I then had to have a few more drinks to steady the hands a bit and put it all back together, after trying the key about a hundred times to make sure it still worked I started the task of refitting with ordinary bolts this time, refitted the dash and shes sweet.
GOD VEHICLES TURN YOU TO DRINK,
FITZY.
