Hey guys at the begining of the week fitted a temp gauge to my 3y(accually used a oil temp but was told can use it for the water) didnt change the sensor in the engine tho as different size thread than the one that came with the gauge. got it all wired up but operating temp showing on it says about 120 C or just above. the gauge on the dash was working before i diconected it and it sat about 1/3 as they all do. was wondering if the temp on my new gauge is correct or if it is not calabrated right cause i used my old sender. or do they just run this hot? it is an auto gaugeoil temp with the blue back light.
cheers

you need to use correct sensor that was supplied for the gauge, different sensor can be calibrated differently to your gauge

I agree and one other thing is the Toyota temp sensor is knobbled and has a pretty wide "normal" or middle range this was done so if the temp rose people would not complain about overheatingand send the truck into service under warranty. The Aussies have instructions to modify the factory guage somewhere and I think it is on the site.

You can get an adaptor from blackwood paykels. Got told to look there from bnt and i reckon they had over 100 different sizes
