Hi all
Does anyone know what the main differences are between a JTop and EVO front suspension?
Also are lights, tail lights readily available ? I seem to do those in on a regular basis !
Any other things I should know about, its getting time to replace the JTop so I wan't something better.
The JTop is one great little unit, but its time to stop getting wet !

Im pretty sure the front on the evo is coiled....
The evo wouldn't be as capable off road as your Jtop though I would expect.

Darn
The Pajero EVO has a more modern engine and looks great to boot. The factory flares should cover the rubber as they stick out some way. Why do you think the EVO is less capable ? Rear Diff Locker vrs Limited Slip in the EVO ? or .....
I would be moving up from a 1993 to a 1998
I would be gaining a roof , luxury

They have independant rear suspension as well where as the non evo's had a pretty solid rear end up until 1999.
The evo does have a lot of grunt but a 3.5 DOHC does as well, but without the mivec trickery.

Aha
Looks like I should put my old girl into the panel shop then and get a back window installed
Independent rear also .... not actually seen a 4wd with that configuration
Thanks for the heads up
Which model Pajero 3 dr would you suggest ?
I want the factory diff locker or to be able to swap mine over

What engine do you have now? And what ratio diff?
WHat ever you buy with a hard top you will prob need to swap front diffs as well, unless you have a 3.0 one now.

OK if you get a hard top 3.0 all you should need is the rear diff. Mack sure you get a manual though so you can fit a front diff locker some stage

, The auto's have a smaller front diff.
If you were to get a 3.5 or 2.8 you could swap diffs (the whole housing) but would need the front one as well.

If you are considering going to a LWB, get a NZ new one as they came with the locker and don't appear to fetch any premium.

There is a Mitzi guy here in CHCH who sets up Pajeros for off roading, has done J-Tops 2.5 and 2.8, Hard Tops 2.5, 2.8 and 3.5, LWB and SWB, . He has also owned and modified a EVO that started to show real potential, he recons that they can be made into a good off roader, the EVO he started was looking that good that someone offered good coin for it and as every one knows,
EVERY THING IS FOR SALE,
FITZY.

You are so right
Anything with enough coin thrown at it can be made almost capable
Do you have an e-mail address as I am interested it what was done.
Still think I will get a panel beater to fill in the sun roof and put a back window in mine
