Waikato Cheerleaders Weekend Out (Bacon for breakfast)

Post by DieselBoy »

Hi guys and Girls,

Having seen a couple of photo's from the Manukau club, i would like to see if I can run an ORE trip into there while the track is in good condition and before it gets to wet.

We need to decided on a weekend, collect the fee's and pay the man to get they Key.

I hoping that I will be allowed to organise a trip into there outside of a club, provided all the participants are NZ4WDA affiliated by one way or another.

My vote is for one weekend in April.

I'm pretty sure the fee is $25 per vehicle, and thats payable to an organisation that i can't remember the name of off the top of my head.

I wouldn't say its a shiny trip from the looks of the photo's, but it would be fine for your average truck with good mud tyres.

So how much interest have i got??

Cheers,
Pete.

I understand that was the first 3km or so that has been cleared for Pylon maintenance?

The rest is as it was - tough truck territory

I'm thinking overnighter, get the most out of our fee :D

Biggest issue for me is going to where to leave the tow vehicle.

It might be a case of dropping off the trucks at the start of the track, then someone staying there with them while we run the tow vehicles and trailers into Pauanui to a safe place. I have a few idea's as to where we could leave them, could cold call the servo, or there's a family friend of Sarahs that has a bit of land half way up the road into Pauanui that could be an option :D

im looking at doing stadia on the sat 11th april and either a run through Thompsons or Waitawheta on the Sunday ,At the moment Stadia is easy for the first couple of KMs or so then its back to how it was ,once up the top the tracks down to the river were blocked but its still an entertaining day in there, you will need a fairly well set up truck to get up to and beyond the tank traps .the same goes for Thompsons ,i am going from Katikati side through and will prob stay the night at Te Aroha motor camp and come back to Auck on the Monday ,as its a long weekend (Easter) .Steve

Sounds like a Big Boy's Day Out

The reason I said April is that March is jammed full of events, with one every weekend just about.

IT would make a good easter trip!!!

Especially venturing into Waitawheta !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Steve, whats the story with the tracks down to the river? Blocked as in need trees / slips clearing or blocked intentionally to prevent access?
