Broken TD42 Engine Mounts

My engine mounts broke on the weekend. " What a stupid design not having some sort of retaining strap. "
Do I just replace with standard mounts and put in some sort of retaining strap or is there a better solution. Seems to be a common problem but couldn't find any posts on it.

Cheers Murray

I Just replaced the mounts on mine, and then ran a loop of chain through the engine mount between it and the block, and then round the chassis rail. Stops your fan shrowd and bonnet from getting munched, and you can limp out of the bush.

You only need to the do the passengers side mount generally.

My engine leaps around like its possessed- especially when i switch it off and it decides to run on/hesitantly stop.

Is the only option new nissan mounts?

Had to replace one the other day too. but it was drivers side :? I shouldn't think your motor should be overrunning like that either FB. Unsure if theres an alternative to the nissan ones...It was like a hundy bucks for the part though.

Factory mounts or get custom captivated mounts made. In good condition they work really well but off road they won't last forever.

Just occassionally. Its not for very long- just sometimes does not switch of smoothly. slightly leaking diesel pump apparently. Has been much better since running morleys through it actually. Maybe it softened the seals up or something? I have no idea what im really talking about.

Apparently they don't have the flashest fuel cutoff system to shut them down so they rumble real bad but its only for a short time. Least that was what i was told.

It vibrated the nut loose on the engine mount making it crack i think so it might pay to make sure its always tight

What a brilliantly simple fix Haynzy !
YES If I replaced my motor with a Toyota one then I wouldn't have the power to break mounts.

I think Taz might be tempted to use some though. I think his casualty count was
Dead alternator
No brakes
Boiling PTO winch
Stuffed clutch
Overheated motor
And that was just the first day.

:)
Cheers
