Hi all.

I'd like to space my front diff forwards- I'll make the spacers myself.

I'll be doing this in preparation for larger tyres.

Opinions advice and dimensions for the spacers would be much appreciated.

How big are you planing on going? I have had 35"s on my safari for the larst two years with no spacing needed.

I couldn't run 35 creepys without rubbing and i had 75mm lift. A mate had the same with wrangler 35s on 15x8 rims with a 2 inch lift...i had my guards cut out and his just folded in on themselves solving the problems. I think it depends on what tyre and rim width you want to run also. Id me more concerned about the rear guards with big tyres. I think someone on here said you could get away with 33s without as much modification (maybe 2in lift and no body work) needed but i can't remember, I would guess they would be fine..

I have wrangler 35"s on 15x8'' rims and a 120mm lift. Only just rubs at max travel.

12mm is the practical maximum. more than about 18mm and the panhard rod will hit the diff.

I have 12mm spacers in mine and this is also how far most dropboxes shift the diff foward as well. So if you fit drop boxes you don't need the spaces.

I read on another forum last night that the max thickness possible is 12mm as otherwise you end up not being able to get the nut onto enough thread

I'm wanting to run 35 x 12.5's on either an 8 or 10" rim. Have not decided yet. I want to run a total of 85mm of lift and will cut guards as necessary- Hopefully then i'll have an excuse to cut the rust out of the rear of me front guards from where the mudflaps were. so when people ask why ive cut my guards i can say "to make my big tyres fit" rather than "to remove the rust"

I figure its not possible to have too much clearance so will do the spacers. I'm not buying them- I'll machine them up myself.

Can anyone tell me what diameter the threaded portion of radius arm is? is there a shank under there which is larger? I don't want to take the arm off and put it all back together (so i can get to work) just for a measurement.

And does anyone in the waikato have a spare radius arm washer sitting around?

Will take photos of mine for you tomorrow and also measurments.

I ran aset of 35 creepy one weekend and they rubbed like shit. I spaced my front diff forward 15mm with radiu arm spacers and new 3" suspension. Running 35 silverstones, no rubbing on body.

If its a real problem I'll go to the trouble of making it once piece -spacer and front washer together.

Destroyed quite a few bushes but never bent the washer.

done mine the same time as Al,i was running creepys all the time and they rubbed,cheap and easy mod,got them from snake racing,no rubbing after the spacers was fitted

I got drop boxes coming Kills two birds with one stone.

So how far forwards can you move the diff before you run out of driveshaft extension? the only serious thing stopping you fro going more than 15mm forwards is the panhard, correct?

i ran a 4inch lift and know heaps of people do they aint got drop boxes,just sumthing else to get hung up on when 4x4,
the drive shaft has a fair bit to go before you have to worry about that,that 's how i put my spacers in just used my winch to pull diff forward and slide spacers in the radius arms,my drive shaft never fell out ,

I'm only wanting to go 3" lift so guess i can go without

They are a waste of money. Either fit drop boxes or the castor plates. The bushes will either flog out in no time or restrict travel. You want rubber bushes and the arms as flat as posible to ensure the shock is tranfered into the shocks and springs and not up the arms into the chassis. This is where drop boxes help a lot. They also make the rubber bush at the chassis end last much better.

I have a 3"+ lift with no castor correction, drop boxes etc and it still handles quite OK.

Hi is there anywhere in nz I can buy these radius arm spacers? tried 4wdbits website but nothing available.

Where abouts are you ? i have a set that arent being used that you could borrow to make copies if your interested or i could be persuaded to sell them .from memory they cost around $40-$50 ..steve
