Chevy Cruiser Clutch

I got a 350 Chev in a 40 Series and I've noticed my clutch has started to slip.

I've had this one recommended to me
http://www.jegs.com/i/Centerforce/183/DF271739/10002/-1

Is this one (@ NZ$650 plus freight) the way to go or is their a better alternative in NZ ie; through MPs or BNT etc?

If you know the way I drive (& the Mrs), I need something heavy duty and I dont want to have to be replacing it all the time. I think its better to pay a bit more and get quality.

Cheers
Malcolm

I got my clutch from ABC (Automotive brake and clutch) In Auckland and they were fantastic. I suggest giving them a call and seeing what they can get before you get one from overseas. 0800 585258

get hold of Brian Howat and get a twin plate setup, he can make up the bits, no slip after that

Mp autoparts quoted $225 for a pressure plate 2400lbs old one was 1400lbs he measured it, $180 for a standard clutch disk

twin plate rocks :D BUT can be a bit of a squeeze to fit it in .mine uses a standard 2f cover unit (about 20 yrs old now)and two standad(ish) plates with an intermediate plate and it is the biz .was a mission to fit in but was well worth it .had to grind out some of the bell housing and part off some of the cover unit edges .mind you mine doesn't get thrashed that much

the clutch in yours was a mp rebuild ,higher pressure as well .seriously go have a chat to brian .i saw him at club meet tonite and told him of your problem .he might already have a spare centre plate already cut out.otherwise he will be doing some more twin plate clutchs soon .he runs the cheapest van clutch he could find (made into a twin plate) in his v12 landy and he regularly sidesteps it in third gear without a problem.and its making good hp :D

have seen Brian. I'll pull clutch out and take it to him so he can check sizes.
He thinks the twin plates the way to go.
But it was hard to get a price out of him at this stage.

What sizes does he need to check ?
My clutch setup and flywheel are sitting on the bench, it could be easier for me to take in and get a price ? Might do that tomorrow as i have to see rob round the corner.
What setup is in yours ?

Did you get round to Brians today? What did he have to say?
I'm not sure on the set up on mine until I pull it out sometime next week.

Yep went to brians he said i need to get a 9in van clutch kit plus an extra disk the cheapest ones they have. Then he will do his stuff but can't do it till april as he is going on holiday and the boys can't do it. He mentioned about bellhousing size to make sure it will fit.
