Suzuki LJ
Gidday Guys. Read somewhere that putting rear springs onto the front gives better articulation as the rear ones are longer. Makes sense and if longer hangers are used this would keep the ride height the same. A problem could be that the locator holes on the springs are approx 50mm further back which would mean the axle will be 50mm further forward. Would that mean the front drive shaft would be too short?? Maybe redrill new holes??? Any experience with this????? thanx

Re: Suzuki LJ
I know in the UK and US that they have had some success with putting Hilux front leaf springs into Suzuki's some even used them on all corners, the benefit is they are long and pretty flat and will invert going up and flex well going down. Sorry I don't have standard front's any more so can't take any measurements someone else may post up.
With the Suki rears I think you will need to change the mounting point for the shakel at the chassis end, this would be drilling a hole (with good alignment) and putting a crush tube through otherwise you may have the shakle hit the frame before the arch is out of the leaf, this would ruin them.
Jack the body of the zook till the rear wheel lifts amd measure eye to eye (piece of string) do the same at ride height and also run one allong the inside of the spring next tape the pieces of string on the inside of the front spring (at the fixed end) and stretch them out, the longest one gives you your minimum shakle length, with that length make a stick and see where the other two positions would be (ride and drop).
You also want to do one from the spring to the diff location on the rear spring, you may run into clearance issues because the diff moves.
Good Luck

Thanx steve.
I went ahead and put the rear springs in with 150mm hangers and it still lifted the jeep by bout 50mm. Haven't got a motor in at the moment so can't get an idea of flex and clearances etc but all in good time. I'll grab some string and try what you suggest.
