Trans swap

Hi all.

Well its coming to the end of the trials season and I'm thinking about gearing down my trans to run 35's.
A front wheel drive trans seems to be a common route.
Has anyone done this conversion?
I'm looking for a few tips, the main thing is the drive shafts and uj's, most guys are using uj's both ends, but I wonder if any one is using the cv's from the trans instead?
