Landrover 90 Rock Sliders

Post by MJB »

Hi all, hoping someone can put me onto a good supplier for rock sliders (side sill protection rails), they appear very expensive for what they are, unfortunately might have to freight some in from the UK because of NZ prices but still looking around, other option is to get some made up.

Any useful information out there would be much appreciated, cheers Mike :-)

I make em for Hiluxes and Surfs, and I can tell you to make them nice and pretty they just end up being expensive due to time put in.

If you want a chunk of tube welded to the chassis then yep, they'll be cheap... if you want something nice that you know will do the job then pay the money and get the goods.

What are you talking re: expensive? $200... $500... $1000?

My 90 had them fitted when I got it - they are Scorpion Racing's rock & tree sliders. The importer is http://www.mainlandrover.co.nz in fact that's who I bought the truck from.

Thanks guys, welding to the chassis is not an option, bolt on items are the go, in NZ price seems to be around $590 + Shipping & local freight, ex UK price is $230 + Shipping + Customs & GST, will get some pics and see if one of our local engineers can make up a pair out of box section.

Good pics Fergus thanks, would be interested in how your sliders are fitted at the back, can see the tab at the front and assume this is bolted to the bulkhead mount? Cheers Mike :-)

If anyone in Christchurch has a 90, 110 or defender and wants some I'd be happy to do a 'prototype' set for cost (I would imagine around $150-180) based on the ones I do for Hiluxes...

In fact, I would probably consider making sets for any mainstream 4WD for that price if I don't already have a pattern for them.

Oops... is that a thread-jacking sales pitch? :)

Thanks Bill, I have exactly the same copy, quite a good pic with some definition and should be reasonably straight forward to replicate. A bit of Kiwi enginuityyyyyyyyyyy and we should get an outcome.
Cheers :-)
