Hi all
asking a question on behalf of a mate.

he has a nissan terrano (I think 95 - 96?) and between about 80 - 100ks it judders. at 100 or so it stops.
The tires are balanced with no bulges, he thinks it might be the gearbox. its an automatic.

I thought it might be the brakes or brake rotors, but the more I think about it the less likely this seems.

any ideas ?

my cruiser used to do that and it was bent back brake rotors

driveshaft ballance or U.J's

not sure with terrano's but if it has it, two piece driveshaft has a bearing in a rubber support thats prone to going.

Out of round tyre, mud behind a wheel, wheel way out of balance.

First thing top do is swap the tyres front to back (eliminates balance and out of round as that will be felt in the steering wheel)

Next disconnect the rear driveshaft engage 4wd and drive see if you still have an issue.

Finaly get the wheels in the air (front or back) and spin them look for any rubbing or movement.

Then get serious

just a thought i have a 90 safari, which had the same problem. found was due to the king pin and the wheel bearing on the front left. i am not sure of the set up your mate has.hope this maybe of some help.
