Bleeding air from power steering system.

Garage talk. Anything from mounting a winch to water proofing the electrics.

Bleeding air from power steering system.

Post by tgaguy1 »

I need to know how to bleed air from the power steering system in A 94 l200.
The system has had a hose replaced and now is very noisey and stiff in operation.
I recall a thread on here some time ago on this topic, but I am unable to locate this using the search.
Can someone either give me a link to this old thread or cover the proceedure again for me.

Thanks

Jase.

Top up the fluid, then with the engine running turn the steering from lock to lock a few times, keep an eye on the fluid level.

I have tryed that. In the past air has cleared itself. This time I seem to have a stubborn air lock.

loosen one of the hoses until you get fluid coming out then do the lock to lock thing. You'll have to keep a close eye on the fluid level.

I vote take it for a drive 8)

I've never had one bleed itself out in the garage properly.. for some reason a 30 second blast up the street ALWAYS seems to do it.

No idea why.. have always done what was explained up there by the other posters.

Thanks for your replies. I will try jacking the front up and if that fails will try cracking the hose fittings.
