Is a 30amp relay big enough?

The ignition key overheated on my Series 2a ... I read relay's are the way forward :)

My ignition key is the older type where the lights & ignition are one unit vs separated as found on late 2a & 3 Series.

Simplified, the ignition key has one 'hot' input wire and two output wires which feed various parts of the Land Rover's electrical system. I've no idea how much load those wires carry. I'm planning to use a 30amp relay as the middle man instead of the ignition key.

Is a 30 amp relay big enough to carry the electrical load which used to run through the ignition key circuit ?

Thanks.

Should do the trick, use two, one for each feed out, and you can also wire up another for the starter if its a pre-engaged type. :D

Thanks a lot.

Shall wire one relay for each feed out and see how it goes. Must also double check how the existing electric fan is wired in ... that's 15amp which could be leaching off the wrong circuit. Doubt there's a pre-engage starter motor on the Holden 186 engine.
