21st / 22nd March

Post by Jerry »

Well my turn to start, just went out and helped peg the course for the cruiser club champs tomorrow, going to try and find some pipe to fit between the snorkel and the fiter now.

Edit: Have connected the snorkel now :D

Also tightened up the play in the steering box as well so it wanders a bit less on the road now

spent today fitting new front shocks, somehow I managed to bend the front left one, made for "interesting" driving when going around a right hand corner.

since WOF is due on Monday thought Id try and do something about the handbrake, pulled the rear disc's off and the pads where about half worn so slapped a new set of pads in, handbrake still no better than it was, even after playing with the adjuster nut :? going to pull the calipers off again tomorrow and maybe CLEAN the frigging mud and sh*t off the levers this time  see if that makes any difference.

Borrowed the mum and dads front lawn and waterblaster and gave the surf a complete underbody clean to make sure there were no broken bits i could see, and there weren't which makes me happy. :D Bring on easter weekend, hopefully don't break anything before then.

Went into Rallywoods on Saturday morning and helped Tony (Taz01) clean the gazebo and then we filled up a trailer of firewood for the guys who were coming in later that afternoon.

Today I picked up a replacement taillight for the jeep, there was a guy over in Titahi Bay parting out his jeep that he rolled, turns out his uncle is the one selling the lexus powered Jeep XJ.

Took my son for a driving lesson in the jeep this evening and by the time we got home we had quite a strange knocking noise coming from the right hand front corner of the vehicle. Apart from low pressure in the tyre I couldn't see anything wrong. When I went to jack it up I went to put a block of wood behind the other front tyre and noticed that four of the five nuts on the front left tyre were loose.

Tightened them up good and proper, got the air compressor hooked up and fixed the low pressure while I was at it.

Could have been interesting to see the tyre leave us behind if we had been driving much further.
